He uses a complex, yet beautiful blend of sand which is carefully selected for each frame color and / or movie image. The soapy water provides the medium for the sand to fall, but the real secret is the air. It is the air barrier that separates the sand from the water. That is it: air, sand and water! The sand will search to find the weakest link in the air-bubble barrier. The drift of sand between the bubbles will create dunes, mountains, and valleys. A slower drift of sand will result in a delicate trickle of sand making more dramatic peaks and valleys. A faster drift of sand will make dune shapes. Best of all is you regulate the amount of air in each sand picture so you’ll be able to make the sand fall as fast or as slow as you wish to have. The Sand Pictures are educational for children whilst soothing and relaxing for adults. There are lots of sizes and shapes to choose between. There in reality is something for everyone!
