These Water Soluble Oil paints are made with the same pigments as the DANIEL SMITH Original Oil Colors , the only difference between the two oil paints is that DANIEL SMITH adds a modifier to the linseed oil (the binder for oil paints) that the Water Soluble Oils are made with. It is that special modified linseed oil that allows these oils to be water soluble! The DANIEL SMITH Water Soluble Oils are Oil Paints, they have the same brush feel , they mix the same as regular oils and they have the same lovely linseed oil scent. Because they are oil paints, the DANIEL SMITH Water Soluble Oils will also be mixed with regular oil paints, though they are going to lose their water solubility. This ability to mix with regular oils makes transitioning to Water Soluble Oils easy.
